Ip68 Rugged VHF UHF Walkie Talkie RA89 is the newest ham radio in 2023.

RA89 is a dual-band dual standby long-range two-way radio. As we know, waterproof walkie-talkies offer a lot of conveniences for communication and reduce loss. Because some job sites and events require waterproof radios due to the risk of water exposure.
So now there are lots of waterproof two-way radios in the market.

What is an IP rating?-RA89 is the IP68 waterproof radio

So usually we use the IP rating. IP stands for Ingress Protection, or the level of protection provided by radio enclosures.
The first number after the Letter P stands for Solids protection, and the second digit stands for Liquid Protection.

And usually in order to make sure the IP rating, also the radios will be tested in 1m deep or 1.5m deep water for 30 minutes or more.

They will check the interface of the walkie-talkie, then check the inner of the 2-WAY Radio, to make sure there is no water and can work. Then make sure they are waterproof.

So for IP67 waterproof walkie-talkie, it should be tested in 1m deep water for 30 minutes. And for IP78 waterproof 2-way radio should be tested in 1.5m deep water for 30 minutes or in 1m deep water for more than 30 minutes.

RA89 is the IP68 waterproof dual-band UHF and VHF two-way radio.
