Retevis, a leader in two-way radio technology, helped Midwest Jeepthing's annual Jeepstock event by providing cutting-edge communication solutions. Using the RT97S GMRS Repeater, Retevis empowered Jeep enthusiasts to stay connected across 900+ acres of rugged terrain, ensuring safety and coordination at all times.
Midwest Jeepthing is the Midwest’s largest Jeep club, with over 780 active members and a thriving online community of 15,000+ Jeep enthusiasts. Based near St. Louis, the group shares a passion for off-roading and outdoor adventures. Club president Dave Cooley describes it as “a place where lifelong friendships are made—where Jeeping is more than a hobby, it's a family.”
Jeepstock, Midwest Jeepthing's signature 3-day event, took place at the Southern Missouri Off-Road Ranch (SMORR). The event attracted 160 Jeeps and 400 attendees, with groups navigating difficult trails and varied terrain. Clear communication was vital to keeping the event safe and organized.
Retevis’ RT97S Repeater played a crucial role in expanding communication across the event. With a simple installation of its antenna on a high vantage point, the RT97S boosted signal coverage across SMORR's expansive 900-acre park. The RT97S provided exceptional long-range communication, even in the most challenging areas of the park, ensuring that every Jeep was within reach.
“This mobile repeater was a game-changer for us,” says Randy Stroede, treasurer of Midwest Jeepthing. “It extended our communication range to every corner of the park. We could reach trail guides, emergency teams, and even the farthest points of the event without issue. It truly made a difference.”
With the RT97S, trail leaders and participants experienced smooth, clear communication. The extended range of the gmrs repeater allowed teams to communicate effortlessly, whether coordinating trail groups, directing emergency responses, or sharing important event updates. For example, when a Jeep got stuck during a trail recovery, the RT97S made it possible to quickly reach recovery teams, saving valuable time and ensuring prompt action.
As part of their community efforts, proceeds from Jeepstock were donated to Code 3 Response, a nonprofit supporting local police and fire departments. “The RT97S not only kept us safe, but it also helped us give back to the community,” says Cooley. “It’s great to see how reliable communication can make a real impact.”
The RT97S Repeater proved essential for Midwest Jeepthing's Jeepstock event, providing long-range communication and reliable coverage over vast, rugged terrain. Retevis’ RT97S kept event participants connected, safe, and coordinated, proving that dependable communication is just as essential to off-roading as the vehicle itself.
