Yes I have a gmrs and ham license. I also work with motorola, tait, and ef Johnstons both p25 and conventional for my work. We have 5+ acres of property in a rural addition. It is hilly with a good amount of wooded area. I was looking for a rugged gmsr radio that was fool-proof, no extra buttons to push, simple to use for wife and family. This has turned out to be perfect. Yes if you want to use them with other gmsr radios you will need to turn off the ctcss tones, yes if you want to use them with a repeater you will need to set the correct tones. Not an issue with their software or just use them out of the box. We have no issues communicating across the property, in and out of metal buildings and out of site hidden by trees and brush. I have had them covered in mud from cleaning out culverts and drainage ditches to dropping them off my tractor or utv. They have handled everything I have asked. My wife likes them because they are simple to use and work every time she keys it up. I have a collection of portable radios but these are now my go-to radios for working around the homestead. For the price these are a great choice if you are wanting a rugged little gmsr radio with programming capability. I have not tested long range since my use is about .5 miles rural (with no issues hills and trees) . I like the ability to have a lock out button, so I turn it on, set the channel and then lock it. Dont have to worry about accidentally changing channels or features with a gloved hand. Good luck!

For the money, I like that it was easy to operate. I used it for vacation while.driving around in 2 vehicles and hiking in Arizoma. Battery life worked well in the Arizona cold and loved that it had usb-c connection, sound quality was good and distinguishable on the road. Due to it being unsecured/unencrypted, started picking up the local Costco transmissions. Hard to figure out the flashlight function though. Partially my fault. Overall, for the price I highly recommend it.

These are great for fixed operations or groups who know what GMRS channels they will be running all the time. They're pretty small, and simple to use from an end user perspective though. They make great family radios for those who may not be radio savvy and just need a radio they can push the PTT on and not have to worry about futzing with settings.Well worth the money.

these really are nice radios. Now that I have them programmed properly they work quite well.
Pros: as I said before, these are VERY easy to use, once they are programmed. Most people aren't going to need to use repeaters or tones. For jyst talking to other people on a hike, in the car, etc they are great.
